Moses
Taylor
Sneden
House
c. 1860
|
|
|
Circa 1860 Moses Taylor Sneden,
son of Jacob Sneden, built for his bride, Maria Haring, an L-form two and
one-half story Victorian farmhouse of clapboard construction with
bargeboard trim. The house and outbuildings are sited atop the hill on
Haring lands across the road from the homestead of his father-in-law,
Nicholas Haring. The farmhouse with the long tree-lined driveway and
outbuildings present a fine example of a 19th
century Bergen County farm.

a dwelling in 1860 just across Closter Publick Road from his wife's father's
homestead . The house being known as the Moses Taylor Sneden
House.
This Sneden House, an L-form two and one-half story
Victorian clapboard
farmhouse with bargeboard is not visible from the road. A straight dirt
and concrete private driveway lined with trees leads to this dwelling,
perched atop a hill. The house, which has been enlarged, is in excellent
condition.
The house is sited on about 15 acres of farmland, complete with
outbuildings and barns
