Bergen County Deeds

Selected Deeds
Abstracted by Pat Wardell
Bergen County, New Jersey, Deeds, Books R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z
Recorded Hackensack, Bergen County, NJ.

Abstracted from the original records now held by the Bergen County Division of Cultural & Historical Affairs. The Division acquired an incomplete set of deeds after they were photocopied for the county (by the LDS) and the originals were being disposed of. If you go to the courthouse to read deeds, you read copies of the original recordings, not the originals. They are, I assume (though I've never used them), available on microfilm through the LDS FHCs. The John Davis book "Bergen County New Jersey Deed Records 1689-1801", published by Heritage Books, Inc.,  covers the earliest deeds until 1803, so I started with 1803, where Davis left off. Anyone who wants to view or copy the entire deed can probably order the microfilm from the LDS.
