      Much of the historical sections have been compiled using material largely in the Public Domain with reference to original sources. Quoted published sources have received attribution in as much as feasible. 

      Special acknowledgement and appreciation go to historians Firth Haring Fabend, John A. Sneden Jr., Lynn Rogers, and Pat Wardell. Their interest, guidance, and generous sharing of their detailed knowledge has both kept me on track and set a higher standard. 

      The work is unfinished. Continuing research should fill gaps as well as provide interesting insight about those who settled in the area that was to become Rockleigh Borough and whose legacy has been left behind in the dwellings that remain today as testimony to their pioneering way of life.
