1.
Locate up-wind, up-hill, and not closer than 75 feet to the
container.
2.
Size-up: Assess the situation and determine whether a HAZ-MAT
condition exists. Initiate the Incident Command System. Advise
responding companies of conditions and locate incoming apparatus to best
advantage.
3.
Specific Tasks:
a. Advance first (left-side) 1½-inch
preconnect attack line, equipped with SCBA, to involved area. Use of
AFFF (foam) is recommended.
b. Advance second 1½-inch
preconnect attack line, equipped with and using SCBA, to protect
exposures.
c. Confine fire and, if possible, extinguish fire.
1. Stage at
the nearest hydrant and prepare to lay-in a 5-inch supply line to the
scene.
2. Lay-In the
primary: 5-inch supply line from the nearest hydrant; position by R-1
(unless ordered otherwise).
3. Specific
Engine Company Tasks:
a. Supply water to R-1 by a
3-inch line.
b. Advance 2-inch attack line(s)
as needed, equipped with and using SCBA.
c. Protect exposures, as a priority.
d. Minimize environmental contamination from chemical
spillage.
