Features:  The Rockleigh offers a comfortable and roomy triple course of 264 acres at the base of the Palisades western slope in Bergen County's "Northern Valley".  In 1957 Alfred H. Tull laid out the original 18 hole course (Red and White) over the rolling pastures of 18th Century Dutch farms. This first public golf course in Bergen County opened on April 1st, 1959. Then in 1964, Robert Trent Jones added the additional nine (Blue).  You can count on getting your money's worth from this classic creation of these great master designers. The turn of the 21st Century has seen a complete renovation of the Red and White courses. Re-designed by Robert McNeil of The Northeast Golf Company, improvements include all new tees with increased yardage, reworked bunkering, as well as new greens at White 5 and Red 4. Improvements also include drainage and an impressive new cart path system.

The greens are well above-average and comparable to those of many private clubs.  The rolling greensward and meadow against the backdrop of the steeply wooded Palisades western slope contribute to the feeling of openness and add immeasurably to game as each season unfolds.  The stone field-house accommodates a Clubhouse, Locker room, Pro Shop, and spacious Snack-Bar.

Delays have been just about eliminated by an automated tee time reservation system. There is a standby list for golfers willing to wait for the first available tee time and a foursome is taken from the standby list every hour. In addition, cancelled reservations are filled from golfers on the list. With tee times spaced at 10 minute intervals, the number of golfers on the course is limited. A round can be completed in a reasonable 4½ hours, often quicker. The course can handle up to 500 golfers a day.

LayoutThe Sparkill Creek meanders through all three courses and Tull made extensive use of water.  However, a decent shot will usually avoid disaster.  Trent Jones frequently pinches the fairway. Each of the three 9-hole courses has its own characteristics and offers particular challenges.

VIRTUAL TOURS

Red Course Tour The Red Course, by Alfred Tull is the most challenging, highlighted by the tricky, par-3 Red No. 4 with a new reconstructed green.  Jersey Golfer Magazine voted Red No. 7 "one the nicest fairways in the state" - and it remains that way.

White Course Tour The White Course, also by Alfred Tull, is not quite up-and-down. White No. 3 is an unusual green shot. White No. 4 green was re-designed in 2003.

Blue Course Tour The Blue Course, by Robert Trent Jones, is relatively flat with Blue No. 7 (par 5; 536 yards) the 2nd longest hole of the three courses.
