1.    Joseph M. Herron (Apr 1840, Newry, Ireland** - Aug 1914, Harrington Park, NJ; bur. 24 Aug 1914 Green Wood Cem., Brooklyn). Arrived in NYC from Ireland in 1757. Married 1st before 1867 Harriet "Hattie" A. Burrows (c.1844, Mystic, CT**- Aug 1897, Harrington Twp, NJ, bur. 14 Aug, Green Wood Cem., Brooklyn, NY***) dau. of Jerome Burrows (c.1813, Groton, CT - Jul 1892, bur. 23 Jul 1892 Green-Wood Cem., Brooklyn, NY) & Caroline A. Dayton (c.1819, Groton, CT - Nov 1869, Brooklyn, NY; bur. 29 Nov 1869, Green-Wood Cem., Brooklyn, NY).

By 1870, the Joseph Herron was living in Brooklyn, NY, with widowed father-in-law. By 1800 the Herron family had moved into a newly built house built by Henry Tory on Willow Road in  "Rockland," NJ. 

Joseph m. 2nd by 1900 his sister-in-law Emma P. Burrows (c.1841, Mystic, CT - Aug 1906, Harrington Twp, NJ, bur. 20 Aug Green-Wood Cem, Brooklyn, NY).***

The 1870 Census for Brooklyn, NY, lists J.M. Herron (30, Fruit broker), Hattie Herron (24), George (4), living with Jerome Burrows (58, Fish merchant) and Emma Burrows (26), two boarders and two servants.*

Herrons were living in the Tory House II at the turn of the century as shown in the c.1900 photograph by Harvey Conklin.

The 1880 Census lists Joseph Herron (41, Merchant), Hattie (36, wife, keeping house), and George D. (12, son), and two servants.*
The 1900 census lists Joseph (60), and Emma D. (58),  Sandy Herron (52), sister of Joseph. **
The 1910 census lists Joseph, age 71, alone.***

Herring/Haring (Jan 1836, NJ - ?, Norwood, NJ) & Mary Elizabeth Demarest (Jun 1851, NY - ?, Norwood, NJ), daughter of Cornelius E. Demarest of Norwood.*** [see Riker Family]

Children of George Dayton Herron & Sophie Herring include:

    i. Jerome Burrows (16 Jul 1892, Harrington Twp, NJ -?) m. 27 OCT 1920 Josephine Wintrich (29 Jun 1889, NYC-?).
   ii. William C. Burrows (31 May 1903, Harrington Twp, NJ-?) m. 1925 in Closter Mary E. Redfield (12 July 1905, Harrington Twp, NJ - 5 May 1971, Scotland, CT).***

The 1900 census lists Sophie and George Herron, grocer, residing with her parents, William Haring (Jan 1837-?) & Mary Haring (Jun 1852-?) of Norwood, Harrington Twp.
The 1930 census lists George D. Heron (63) and Sophanna (59) living on Hariot Avenue, Harrington Park Borough, NJ, where George is listed as a retired farmer. Living with them is Mary E. Herring (78), Sophanna's mother.
