The
Beginning
Rockleigh
Borough, long
recognized for its beautiful country atmosphere, has been included in the
State of New Jersey's long-range "Open Space Plan" as a
"green area" worth preserving for future generations. Designed and built on this "Open Space" concept,
the Rockleigh-McBride
Office & Technical Center
has won many awards for architectural achievement and is one of the most
outstanding planned corporate areas in the state of New Jersey today.
Begun
in the 1960's by McBride
Enterprises on 110 acres of countryside, the Rockleigh-McBride
Office & Technical Center was planned so as not to disturb the country
setting or the rural way of life. Little physical change has taken
place in the community and with McBride experience and technical planning
ability, each pleasingly-designed building has been constructed on a five
or ten acre plot to blend
in with the rural landscape. Utilizing proven development and engineering
techniques, there has been little change in the aesthetics or in the
borough's daily life. Rockleigh
Borough is fortunate in having one of the most beautiful and
geographically convenient office and
technical centers in the east.
Through controlled growth of the Rockleigh
tract and selective screening procedures, McBride attracted some of the
country's leading corporations. Academic Press, Allyn
& Bacon, Arwood, Burroughs, Klopman Mills,
E. W. Leitz, Pan Am, United Air Lines, and Volvo USA all located in Rockleigh....

The
Present
Of
the original commercial presence, Takasago and Volvo USA
continue to thrive in the Rockleigh Corporate Park at the turn of the new
century. In
addition, Carlee Corp., Rockleigh Country
Club, and the Rockleigh Service Center continue to contribute to a
well-balanced Borough outside the Corporate Park.
Rockleigh Borough is now home to a growing technological presence with
Crestron, Elcom Technologies, and KDF. The
subscription service of the major US newspapers, including the New York Times,
Daily News and NY Post, is represented by PFC.
The health care industry is represented by
Spectra Laboratories a division of Fresenius
Medical Care. The Jewish Home at Rockleigh provides
eldercare is a beautifully appropriate park-like setting. Spectrum For
Living provides supervised
residence on Borough property for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Not
only has the development of the Rockleigh Office & Technical Center been instrumental in balancing
Rockleigh's tax rate, but also the companies located here serve the
community as the community has serves them. A typical example was the forming of a fire brigade to
provide day time protection for the entire town while many resident
volunteers are out of the area. The cooperation between the companies and Rockleigh
Borough has been unquestionably the finest and, to that the effect, has been
one to create an atmosphere to further the reputation of Rockleigh as an
ideal multifaceted community in which to locate, whether for business or
residence.
